PROSSER — Preliminary work is expected to start on the Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center site at the beginning of August now that board members have unanimously awarded a contract to Premier Excavation of Richland.

Work is scheduled to include excavation and leveling of the site, paving of the parking area, adding utilities and overhead lighting, and hydroseeding of the outdoor event area and some landscaping, according to information from the center.

Most of the work on the City of Auburn’s proposed Promenade Project on South Division Street would be underground, replacing old utilities, clay sewer pipes and other features of bygone days.

Once that’s done, the City would pave the promenade with a surface treatment in keeping with a pedestrian thoroughfare, widen the sidewalks and more, all with the intention of lining street with businesses.

Port of Bremerton commissioners have learned that a business-incubator building that was the centerpiece of a proposed clean-tech business park may be too expensive to build.

Without it, the bulk of the Sustainable Energy and Economic Development (SEED) package of private and public projects may never go forward.

The NCW Economic Development District (NCWEDD) has been awarded $31,899 in grant funding from the Economic Development Administration to study entrepreneurship.

The analysis will be used to develop a comprehensive training program in conjunction with Wenatchee Valley College.
