Plans to expand Sauk County’s network of high-speed data cables to rural areas have been put on hold — at least temporarily.
In meetings last week, county officials said the federal Economic Development Administration has asked them to complete a $40,000 environmental impact assessment before the project can qualify for grant funding.

Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation (FCEDC) has received a $437,899 grant to help grow the regional economy.
The grant will fund the implementation and three years of services that will expand and enhance FCEDC’s current existing business development services in the form of an economic gardening program called “Impact!”
